September means the start of a new school year in France which seems crazy for us from the southern hemisphere who feel that the year is coming to an end. It was a little bit strange starting back at school after almost 3 months off over Summer but it hasn't taken long to settle back in to routine. I am in the same class as before, with the same people but our subjects are different. Each week I have: 2 hours of sport (volley ball) 2 hours of Spanish (makes me feel like I've been thrown back in a time warp to the start of my exchange where I could barely understand anything!) 4 hours of literature (Greek mythology at the moment) 4 hours of history/geography 5 hours of English (a little easier than Spanish I must admit :p) 8 hours of philosophy
I start at 8.30 every day and finish at either 4pm or 5pm. Wednesdays I finish at 12.30 and Saturdays at 11.30. I'm really enjoying school and the fact that I can actually follow the lessons now, take notes and understand.
At the end of the holidays I changed host familys, to the Nancy family. My new house is in a small residential community with the big gate and intercom and everything to get in which is really cool haha then the house is really modern. I've got a new set of host parents, Philippe and Agnès, a 19year old brother Guillaume and 17year old sister Cécile who is in my class at school. She's going to Finland in August with Rotary. We also have a pet rabbit called Biscuit :) The house is not far from my first host family so it's perfect, I can go back and see them when I want and I'm still living a 10 minute walk away from school. And I have a big room and my own bathroom! :D The new exchange students have arrived and there are two living in Nancy with me, Mia from Finland and Maria from Mexico who is in my 1st host family and in my class at school. Mia goes to another school. We all get along greatly and have taken to going to shopping together every Wednesday afternoon :) (lucky they have me to show them the ropes ;) ) Maria and I have also started taking ballet classes two nights a week which I'm so happy about! It's at a ballet academy a 2minute walk away from my house. All's well!
